The Annual Immunization Update discusses the latest ACIP recommendations for adult and pediatric immunizations. This year’s update is chock-full of important guidance for the influenza season, COVID-19, pneumococcal vaccine, and other opportunities for pharmacy-based immunizations due to missed vaccines during the pandemic.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Discuss the 2022 Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations regarding adult and pediatric immunizations
2. Discuss pipeline and new emerging vaccines
3. Review influenza vaccine considerations such as nomenclature, characteristics, schedule, contraindications, and precautions in preparation for the upcoming influenza season
4. Review COVID-19 vaccine considerations based on the most recent guidance
5. Review a patient’s immunization history to determine appropriate vaccine recommendations based on the appropriate immunization schedule
