COPD Treatment Guideline Update [Pharmacist]

Ensuring optimal use of medications to manage COPD requires knowledge of current treatment guidelines, which were recently revised. Take this course to better understand early warning signs, initial treatment and treatment escalation algorithms, and comorbidity management so you can embrace your role in caring for patients with COPD.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Identify major characteristics and risk factors for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
2. Assess COPD and risk of COPD exacerbations based on spirometry and patient-specific factors
3. Apply treatment guidelines to recommend evidence-based therapy for chronic management of COPD
4. Identify parameters to monitor a patient’s response to their COPD regimen and recommend therapy changes when appropriate
5. Describe patient burden from COPD and how clinicians can empathize and alleviate
