R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Recognizing a Pharmacist’s Professional Authority [Pharmacist]

R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Recognizing a Pharmacist’s Professional Authority [Pharmacist]

The support role of a pharmacy technician is collaborative and respectful with pharmacists. But what happens when a technician suspects regulatory incompliance? This course discusses how a pharmacy technician can appropriately assist a pharmacist with regulatory compliance issues, as well as the limits of the technician role in that collaborative relationship.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Explain the supportive role pharmacy technicians play as a member of the pharmacy practice team.
2. Discuss situations in which a pharmacy technician is alleged to have committed a regulatory violation.
3. Describe a policy for pharmacy technician recognition of potential regulatory violations that includes a mechanism for discussion of their concerns with the supervising pharmacist.
