Medications to Treat Sexually Transmitted Infections
As sexually transmitted infections (STI) continue to increase across the country, pharmacy teams can play an important role to decrease their transmission and effectively treat patients. New guidelines were recently issued that outline some of these strategies. Take this course to learn more about STIs and the medications that are used to treat them and prevent their spread.
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Explain the difference between sexually transmitted infection (STI) versus a sexually transmitted disease
2. Recognize commonly used medications for the treatment of STI’s
3. Identify the drug of choice for chlamydia and uncomplicated gonorrhea
