Advancements in targeted gene therapy have given patients with cystic fibrosis a longer life expectancy. Take this course to learn about these advancements, supportive medication therapies, and opportunities to provide care to patients with CF.
Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Explain the pathophysiology of cystic fibrosis (CF) and the various organ systems impacted
2. Recognize medications commonly associated with CF and indication for use
3. Identify medications for symptom management and targeted gene therapies
4. Identify opportunities for pharmacists to intervene and enhance care in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy setting
5. Assess the pharmacoeconomics and socioeconomic impact of the disease
