Glucose Whisperers: The Role of CGMs in Pharmacy Practice

Glucose Whisperers: The Role of CGMs in Pharmacy Practice

This course will provide learners with the foundational basics of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology including types, features, evidence supporting use, and distinctions from traditional glucose monitoring. Integrated patient cases will allow learners to develop critical skills to interpret ambulatory glucose profiles for adjustments to therapies that are informed, evidence-based, and tailored for patients. Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate the provision of pharmacy-based diabetes care, provide exceptional support to patients managing diabetes with CGMs, and ultimately improve diabetes-related outcomes.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Describe continuous glucose monitor(CGM) technology and how it differs from traditional blood glucose monitoring.
2. Compare and contrast commonly available CGMs including their types, features, and capabilities.
3. Summarize the evidence and place in therapy for CGMs in the management of diabetes in various patient populations.
4. Recommend changes in an antihyperglycemic regimen by interpreting an ambulatory glucose profile.
5. Identify the role of the pharmacist when using CGMs to provide diabetes care.
