Pharmacist Tobacco Cessation On-Demand 1h

Pharmacists are integral members of the multidisciplinary team to support tobacco cessation. As medication experts, this course provides a review of the two-part solution to tobacco cessation – overcoming addiction to nicotine with medications and breaking the tobacco habit – with an emphasis on medications.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Identify the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved over-the-counter (OTC) nicotine replacement therapies for tobacco cessation.
2. Describe how to use the FDA approved OTC nicotine replacement therapies for tobacco cessation.
3. Discuss how to recommend the FDA approved prescription tobacco cessation medications.
4. Recognize the drug interactions between components of tobacco smoke and many common medications.
