Pharmacist Oncology | Specialty Pharmacy On-Demand 1 credit hour

A surge in the approval and use of immunotherapy agents highlights the importance of identifying and managing immunotherapy-related adverse events (irAEs). Pharmacists can increase their value on the interprofessional team by recognizing, managing, and monitoring common and rare irAEs. This course will review the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of irAEs associated with immune check point inhibitors. Learners will be informed and empowered to embrace their role in the care and management of patients treated with immunotherapy agents.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. List the signs, symptoms, and diagnostic criteria of immune checkpoint inhibitors related adverse events (irAEs).
2. Apply guideline-based treatment algorithms to patients with irAEs.
3. Develop monitoring plans for patients with irAEs.
4. Formulate evidence-based recommendations for patients with irAEs.
5. Discuss the role of the clinical pharmacist in the management of patients irAEs.
