Hypertension is an extremely common medical condition, and pharmacists often serve as informational resources or care providers. This course covers the management of hypertension in a case-based manner. Gain insight on how to apply publications and guidelines on common scenarios encountered, including selecting medications for resistant hypertension and counseling patients on optimal timing of antihypertensive therapy.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Discuss managing elevated serum creatinine in patients on ACEI/ARB.
2. Select third- or fourth-line antihypertensive agents for the management of resistant hypertension.
3. Evaluate the need for appropriate blood pressure therapy in the context of shortages.
4. Determine secondary causes of hypertension in clinical practice.
5. Apply research on optimal timing of antihypertensive administration to patient care.
