As dementia becomes increasingly prevalent, pharmacy professionals are at the forefront of supporting these vulnerable populations. This course explores the important role pharmacy professionals can play in supporting patients living with dementia and their caregivers. Through pharmacy-based scenarios, you will review indicators of cognitive change and caregiver burden, dementia-friendly communication strategies, pharmacy interventions, referral pathways, and approaches to ongoing caregiver support. Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Recognize potential indicators of cognitive change and caregiver burden during pharmacy interactions to identify opportunities for support.
2. Select effective communication strategies for patients living with dementia and their caregivers in pharmacy settings.
3. Determine appropriate pharmacy-based interventions for patients experiencing cognitive or medication-management challenges and their caregivers.
