Tuberculosis (TB) is a public health issue and continues to be one of the world’s deadliest diseases. This course will provide an overview of tuberculosis for the healthcare professional. TB prevalence, transmission, risk factors, testing, appropriate treatment, and infection control procedures will be discussed.

Upon successful completion of this course, learners should be able to:
1. Identify TB disease trends in the United States
2. Describe the transmission and pathogenesis of TB
3. Identify appropriate TB testing and diagnosis methods
4. Describe appropriate treatment options for both TB disease and Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI)
5. Discuss the three control measures in an effective TB infection control program
