The Diabetes Galaxy: Looking Beyond Glycemic Management [Pharmacist]

Over 34 million people have diabetes, 88 million people have prediabetes, and obesity rates are rising. “Diabesity” is projected to dramatically increase in the next few years. This course reviews the latest American Diabetes Association (ADA) pharmacotherapy standards of care and recommended treatment so you can provide person-centered care, education, and adherence assessment.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Summarize recent changes to the American Diabetes Association Management of Hyperglycemia in Type 2 Diabetes.
2. Discuss the rationale regarding therapeutic decision making when selecting medication therapy for people with type 2 diabetes.
3. Evaluate contraindications and adverse effect considerations when recommending therapies for people with type 2 diabetes.
4. Formulate patient-centered treatment plans for people with diabetes to reduce cardio-metabolic and renal risk.
