Stay on Script: Demystifying Compliance Programs in Pharmacy Practice [Pharmacists]

Compliance programs in pharmacy practice are paramount to ensure responsible and ethical conduct, mitigate legal risks, and uphold regulatory commitments. This education session will equip learners with knowledge to master core facets of compliance programs applicable across diverse contexts, including employment, payer compliance, accreditation, and filling controlled substance prescriptions. By exploring the purpose, advantages, and key components of compliance programs, and learning how to report potential violations and unethical behavior, participants who complete this course will acquire the skills needed to understand various compliance programs in pharmacy practice.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Review legal case studies of unmet compliance responsibilities.
2. Identify the purpose and necessity of a compliance program for a pharmacy.
3. Describe the seven critical components of an effective pharmacy compliance program.
4. Explain how to develop a pharmacy compliance program to support the prevention and detection of legal violations and unethical behavior.
