Sexually Transmitted Infections: New Guidelines for Treatment

Pharmacists play an important role in helping patients prevent and treat sexually transmitted infections (STI), particularly as rates rise across the country. This course will teach you how to take a sexual history to screen your patients, utilize the appropriate drug and dose to treat the most common STIs and work with patients and the healthcare team to implement the important clinical guidelines in practice.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. List the 5 P’s for obtaining a sexual history
2. Differentiate sexually transmitted infection from sexually transmitted disease
3. Describe key features of the Sexually Transmitted Infections Treatment Guidelines, 2021
4. Select the appropriate drug and dose for treatment of a patient with uncomplicated gonorrhea
5. Recommend the appropriate drug, dose, and duration of therapy for treatment of a patient with chlamydia
