Sexually Transmitted Infections: Cases for Clinical Decision-Making

Sexually Transmitted Infections: Cases for Clinical Decision-Making

The rate of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is on the rise in the U.S. and significant changes to treatment regimens have emerged with recent guideline updates. Pharmacists have an important role in mitigating the spread with appropriate screening and monitoring strategies. Connect your learning to practice with these real-world cases and be ready to impact the health and well-being of your patients at risk for STIs.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Apply current sexually transmitted infection guidelines to specific patient cases involving gonorrhea and chlamydia
2. Utilize specific patient medical history, medications, and laboratory results to optimize sexually transmitted infection management
3. Recommend an HPV vaccination schedule based on patient demographics and the CDC immunization schedule
4. Evaluate the risk of an unknown penicillin allergy for a patient prescribed ceftriaxone
