Professional identity formation is a critical pillar of a pharmacy professional’s career as it boosts confidence, reinforces professional behaviors, and fosters ethical practice. Discover why professional identity formation is essential and how pharmacists, preceptors, and mentors can support a student’s journey of professional self-discovery.

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacy preceptors should be able to:
1. Define professional identity and its importance to the individual and the pharmacy profession
2. Describe educational practices that foster identity formation in pharmacy
3. Identify experiential activities that support professional identity formation (PIF)
4. Develop strategies to mentor and support pharmacy student and resident PIF
