Dose of Defense: Raising Awareness of Legal Hazards in Pharmacy Precepting

The risk of student error leading to a potential malpractice liability within experiential learning in pharmacy education is a valid concern. This course offers learners a comprehensive review of malpractice liabilities inherent in student pharmacist practice experiences. Through the exploration of foundational principles of malpractice liability and risk management, learners will be equipped with strategies to impart essential risk management practices to student pharmacists, enhancing patient safety and promoting quality care.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Discuss the malpractice liabilities that may arise during a pharmacy student pharmacy practice learning experience.
2. Explain the basic principles of malpractice liability and of risk management.
3. Describe strategies that can be utilized to teach pharmacy students the value of risk management practices in the provision of pharmaceutical products and services to patients.
