Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this application-based CPE course, pharmacists should be able to:
1. Describe the pathophysiology of acute, subacute, and chronic pain.
2. Apply knowledge of acute and chronic pain pathways and underlying mechanisms to clinical assessment and appropriate management of pain.
3. Outline key updates in the 2022 CDC Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain.
4. Recommend pharmacologic therapy for a patient with pain based on practice guidelines to improve health-related quality of life.
