Creating a professional environment free from discrimination and harassment is essential to maintaining integrity, equity, and trust within pharmacy practice and the broader healthcare system. This course introduces pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students to key equal employment laws and foundational principles related to discrimination and harassment in healthcare organizations. You will gain an understanding of your legal and ethical responsibilities and learn strategies to foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this application-based course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Define Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and its impact on employment practices.
2. Differentiate between disparate treatment and adverse impact discrimination.
3. Identify behaviors and conditions that constitute sexual harassment in the workplace.
4. Explain the role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and related federal laws in protecting employee rights.
5. Implement strategies to prevent harassment and respond appropriately to workplace allegations.
