The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is responsible for regulating controlled substances and has very strict rules to prevent diversion. Take this course to learn DEA requirements related to recordkeeping, prescription processing, labeling, and other security measures that, if not followed, can often get pharmacies into trouble. 

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Discuss the significance of an FDA-approved drug being placed by DEA into a schedule that restricts patient access to the drug due to the drug’s potential for abuse.
2. Identify the recordkeeping requirements for pharmaceutical products that are classified as controlled substances under federal law.
3. Explain the regulatory requirements applicable to controlled substance prescriptions under federal law.
