To err is human, and a school or preceptor site may be liable when a pharmacy student’s error results in patient harm. This course explores risk management strategies to reduce preceptor exposure and provides guidance on teaching pharmacy students and residents about malpractice liability.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy preceptors should be able to:
1. Discuss the malpractice liabilities that may arise when precepting pharmacy learners.
2. Explain the basic principles of malpractice liability and of risk management.
3. Describe strategies that can be utilized to teach pharmacy learners the value of risk management practices in the provision of pharmaceutical products and services to patients.
