Antimicrobial resistance is a top public health concern globally. Cefiderocol, a recently approved siderophore cephalosporin antimicrobial, will be evaluated using a case series and literature review. Join us to learn when to use the newest cephalosporin in patient care.
Upon successful completion of this application-based course, pharmacists and students should be able to:
1. Describe the mechanism of action for cefiderocol
2. Contrast the antimicrobial spectrum between cefiderocol and carbapenems
3. Discuss the results and conclusions of a recent article
4. Define statistical tools for literature evaluation, like non-inferiority margin
5. Propose clinical appropriateness for cefiderocol in stewardship programs
