Reduce the Anxiety: Best Practice for Pediatric Immunizations

Reduce the Anxiety: Best Practice for Pediatric Immunizations

There are nuances to administering immunizations to pediatric and adolescent patients. Our Expert in Residence, Miranda Wilhelm, discusses ACIP recommendations for these age groups; best practices related to site selection, distraction techniques; and opportunities for collaboration to positively impact vaccination rates.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Discuss Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice (ACIP) recommendations related to child and adolescent immunizations
2. Describe best practices for immunizing children and adolescents including site selection and distraction techniques.
3. Compare scope of practice regulations for pediatric and adolescent immunizations
4. Review opportunities for interprofessional collaboration to improve vaccinations rates
5. Review Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for providing immunizations during a pandemic
