Legal Implications of Technician-Patient Interactions (Technician)

Pharmacy technicians have a responsibility to effectively communicate and represent the pharmacy in a professional manner to patients. This course will discuss how to reduce legal and regulatory exposure through appropriate and professional communication and actions by pharmacy technicians.

Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based CPE course, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
1. Identify the appropriate role of the pharmacy technician in personal dealings with pharmacy patients.
2. Recommend to fellow pharmacy technicians an appropriate strategy for managing patient interactions in a
manner that is sensitive to risk management concerns.
3. Implement a strategy for technician-patient relations that will enhance the pharmacy’s ability to meet patient needs without increasing exposure to regulatory violations.
