ICYMI – Yearly By Design™ Planner
In my first year as a pharmacist, I took a course from Franklin Covey on how to effectively use an annual planner to succeed.
I’ll never forget walking into the Franklin Covey store in my local mall each December and deciding what system I was going to use for the following year. I realize this is dating me, but I really miss that store!
My colleagues and I would joke with each other that trying something different each year – layout, size, or even a new cover for the daily, weekly, and monthly pages – would help us in our quest for better organization and success!
Although I no longer use that system, my experience with Franklin Covey taught me the importance of having a written plan for my days, weeks, and months. This structured approach to time management significantly increased my chances of success, and as life got busier, this planning process became essential for me.
Even today, with my phone holding my daily appointments, I still rely on my planner to serve as my “security blanket.” It’s where I brainstorm ideas, take notes, look at my week at-a-glance, track my habits, doodle when I need a brain break, and keep my compass pointing north to my yearly goals.
Since taking the Franklin Covey course, I knew someday I wanted to create a planner that integrated my annual professional goals as a pharmacist with my personal goals and learning objectives. I envisioned a space for professional inspiration while fulfilling all the functions of a typical planner.
This is why I’m so excited about our By Design™ Planner!
